Cat 6 is a type of Ethernet cable used for networking. It is the sixth generation of twisted pair Ethernet cables and provides higher performance than Cat 5 and Cat 5e cables. Cat 6 cables are capable of transmitting data at speeds up to 10 Gbps over a maximum distance of 100 meters. They are also backward compatible with Cat 5 and Cat 5e cables. Cat 6 cables are thicker than Cat 5 and Cat 5e cables and feature a thicker outer insulation and four twisted pairs of copper wires. This helps reduce crosstalk and interference, allowing for faster data transmission. Cat 6 cables are ideal for applications that require high-speed data transfer, such as streaming video or gaming.
