This Intel FTLX8571D3BCV-IT 1G/10G Dual-Rate SFP+ optical transceivers are designed for use in 1-Gigabit and 10-Gigabit Ethernet links over multimode fiber. They are compliant with SFF-8431, IEEE 802.3-2012 10GBASE-SR/SW and 1000BASE-SX. Digital diagnostics functions are available via a 2-wire serial interface, as specified in SFF-8472. The FTLX8571D3BCV-IT is a “limiting module”, i.e., it employs a limiting receiver. Host board designers using an EDC PHY IC should follow the IC manufacturer’s recommended settings for interoperability with an SFP+ limiting module. This product is for applications specifically designed for 10G SFP+ ports and 1G/10GSFP+ ports and not native 1G SFP ports. The optical transceiver is RoHS compliant as described in Application Note AN-2038.

Exactly what I needed at a great price with quick shipping. I installed these modules in Intel X520-DA2 cards and they work perfectly. It should be noted that this is a Dual Rate SFP+ module made for Intel by Finisar. This particular model is not produced any longer which I assume is why the price is so low. What I mean by dual rate is that this module is capable of auto detecting and running at 1Gb or 10Gb depending on the what it is attached to. These were originally created to allow you to connect a server to a 1Gig switch port and then in the future when you upgraded to a 10Gig switch you could use the same NIC card and SFP+ modules in the server to make that connection as well. Well worth the money. 5
